Felix Alonzo Eaton Anderson
Born about 1809 in Tennessee
Died 16 September 1866 in Shelby County, Texas

Felix Anderson was born about 1809 in Tennessee.  His father, Matthew Anderson, was in Monroe County, Mississippi when it became a county in 1821.  We think Felix was with him at this time.  When Felix was grown, he bought land in Monroe County to make his home there.  His first wife was Ann and they had one daughter, Mary Ann.  His second wife was Susan G. Hardy.  They married in 1837.

Matthew Anderson came back to live with Felix after serving as a Private in the Texas Revolution.  Matthew and Felix and their family decided to come to Texas where Matthew was given land for his service.  Shelby County is where they decided to live.  Felix became a charter member of the Sam Houston Mason’s Lodge No. 146, transferring from the Aberdeen Lodge in Mississippi where he became a member in 1840.

Matthew transferred his land to his son and Felix started a mercantile store in the Hamilton community of Shelby County.

During the War Between the States, Felix was assigned to see if men that were in the war or their families were to get help from the county.

Felix died the 16 September 1866 in Shelby County, Texas.
He left a Will naming his son, William l. Anderson, and his living daughters and their husbands, Mary Ann and husband, William Boles, and Eugenia E. and husband, William H. Crawford, as beneficiaries.  Mr. Crawford was to run the mercantile and see after Susan, Felix's wife, until her death.  Felix is buried along with Susan and some of their children in the Rather Cemetery in the Hurstown community in Shelby County.
