Mary Jane McCutcheon was born in Williamson County, Republic of Texas on June 17, 1838.  She died between 1880 and 1883 in Travis County, Texas.

Mary Jane’s parents were William and Elizabeth Jane Harrell McCutcheon.  Her grandmother was Catherine Overton McCutcheon Jennings.  Her parents and grandparents were original landowners in the Republic of Texas.  Some fought and some died for the independence of Texas.

Mary married John Pettis Jones, January 14, 1857, and they had two daughters, Mary Alice and Anna Elizabeth.  They resided their married life in Travis County, Texas.  She was admitted into the Austin State Hospital in 1868 and was a patient there in 1880.  She died there.
