SARAH MONTGOMERY &
FRANKLIN ALFONZO ALEXANDER
 

Sarah Montgomery arrived in Texas with her family in 1840 when she was four years old.  Her father, Farris Montgomery, settled in Nacogdoches County.  There on 5 January 1854, Sarah married Franklin Alfonzo Alexander.  They moved to Hopkins County by 1860.  F. A., a carpenter and farmer, was born 16 January 1820 in Tennessee; he died 12 May 1878 in Texas.  F. A. was a Private in Company B, Chambers' Battalion, Texas Reserve Corps Infantry, CSA.  

Sarah bore twelve children; all but one survived, the last child being born after the death of her husband.  Later in Sarah's life she moved to New Mexico to live with a son in the mountains near Cloud Croft.  Sarah died 11 May 1900 and is buried on the mountain in the Haynes County Road Cemetery.
